Arts council Adds John Baucher to ITS Collection

John Baucher is pleased to announce that the Arts Council of Northern Ireland have acquired for their permanent collection ‘Jubilee vest (for Liz)’

Selected for last year’s prestigious Royal Hibernian Academy annual show, the sculpture will now form part of the ACNI touring collection. Made using approx 2,000 eyelets and 3,500 cable-ties along with found gifted and retrieved flags, there are thousands of manipulations involved in its creation. It is believed to be the first artwork in the collection to feature actual flags rather than depictions.

John,s distinct and unique vexillological work is now held in private collections, the Ulster Museum Modern History Dept and now the Arts Council.

This ongoing body of work will be explored further in John’s upcoming exhibition ‘Try we must’ at our gallery in Marlborough house 1–15 August 2024.
