Bankmore House
Bankmore House is our latest premises in Belfast’s city centre, replacing our previous Marlborough House digs on Victoria Street. We haven’t come up with a nickname for our new place just yet — at least nothing we’re prepared to repeat in public…
At a time when many artist-led organisations are losing, nevermind city centre locations, but locations in general, we remain excited to be keeping a Vault presence in the centre of Belfast, continuing to operate a busy programme of multidisciplinary exhibitions in a public-facing gallery/project space alongside a busy programme of events, workshops, talks, screenings and meet-ups throughout the year.
We’ll also continue to make noise about the lack of any permanent studio provision, because, as with Marlborough House, and Tower Street, and the Bank before that, this will also be a meantime location with plans for redevelopment coming down the line. It’s important that we acknowledge that while meantime use of buildings has allowed Vault to grow into the force that it is today, this model is not sustainable. Like many other similar organisations, we are exhausted by the precarious nature of the meantime model and the constant worry about finding new buildings on a regular basis but rest assured that we will make the very most of the building in the time that we have it, and we will continue to use our platform to advocate for a city where the arts are properly valued and sustainable.
For now, Bankmore House is home to 30 Vault artists. We will open our new public facing Gallery & Project space in April 2026.
Keep up to date with upcoming events in Vault Artist Studios by signing up to our monthly newsletter.
We’d like give a sincere thanks to the owners of Bankmore House, The Conway Group Group, for making the building available to us and for their help in making this move possible.
