Belfast City Hospital Tower: Forty never looked so good

A new exhibition launched last week all about the City Hospital Tower building which turns 40 this year. The exhibition will be on display in The Tower Gallery, in the main foyer of Belfast City Hospital, until 11 April and will evolve throughout its duration.

Featuring work from Vault Members Sally O'Dowd and Leo Boyd, and curated by our good friend Jane Morrow, the show draws on archive material and contemporary artistic responses and is a celebration of an architectural anomaly in Belfast’s built environment.

Visible from all over the city, the City Hospital Tower tends to provoke a ‘Marmite’ response in all who gaze upon it; perhaps even more so amongst those who use the building.

Come along and tell us what you think!

Thursday 22 January - Saturday 11 April 2026
Open Monday to Sunday during hospital opening hours

Organised by the Trust Arts in Health team and supported by Trust Charitable Funds.
Curated by visual art curator, writer, researcher, educator and advocate Jane Morrow & Conor McCafferty, Arts & Heritage Collections Manager.

Exhibition is accompanied by a programme of creative workshops for staff, in drawing, photography, and printing.
