Jonathan Brennan at the Hunt Museum Limerick
Vault member Jonathan Brennan is delighted to be featured in the inaugural Hunt Museum Limerick Open Submission Exhibition with his piece ‘Macha’.
The event will showcase artistic talent and fresh perspectives, highlighting both innovation and creativity in the arts and featuring work from invited artists alongside pieces selected through a competitive open call.
Speaking about the work, and its title ‘Macha’, Jonathan said:
‘Macha is said to be one of three sisters known as 'the three Morrígna' in ancient Irish mythology. She is associated with the land, fertility, kingship, war and horses. In this eponymous hand printed photo intaglio piece, she is depicted by one of the Armagh Rhymers who carry on the mumming tradition to this day. The print is based on a photograph I took at the ancient Giant's Ring site outside Belfast.’
