Vault Artist Studios Presents
Vault Artist Studios presents… A comic in 5 pages.
In little more than two weeks, Vault at Marlborough House will be no more as our tenancy in this home for the last 2 years and 8 months comes to an end. Marlborough House was a temporary building for us as the site is due for redevelopment. The 70 or so artists who had studios here made the most of the building and its location in Belfast city centre while we had it.
Marlborough House was home to our first city centre gallery and project space and what a space that was! We hosted, produced and curated more than 25 incredible multidisciplinary collaborative, experimental, group and solo exhibitions. Phew-nominal!
Being in the city centre allowed us to make new friends and team up with other artist-led spaces and creative human forces all experiencing the same highs and lows of working in the arts at this time. To those who have also lost their buildings and still seek a new space - Solidarity.
So what’s next? Our amazing staff team have secured a new building on Bedford Street called Bankmore House. It’s just a temporary fix but it does allow our artists to keep working and our programming to continue for now. Bankmore House is in the city centre (just opposite Wetherspoons) and will be home to many of the Marlborough House artists. It will also be home to our new gallery and project space which, all being well, will reopen this April. Wahoozers!
Massive thank you to everyone who has supported us. To our trustees and staff team who go above and beyond, our members for giving and caring so much, our fellow artist-led spaces for being the best network, our participants and audiences for showing up, getting involved and celebrating the arts, the Martin Group for renting us Marlborough House and our funders who put their faith in us by supporting our work.
Vault is now Bankmore House, Corporation Street & Shankill Mission - All temporary buildings. In 2026 we continue the search for secure, appropriate, long term work spaces.
