My work in progress show - Temple opens next week as part of Late Night Art in the Vault gallery on Bedford St, Belfast. It’s a collection of larger abstracted pieces printed, erased, gilded and painted with precious metals, gold, mother of pearl shell and enamels on glass.

It’s also the start of a body of work about Templehofer Feld in Berlin - A site settled by The Nights of the Templar in 1200, it has been through many life’s including recreational and grazing land, Nazi airfield and later airdrop for the Luftwaffe and a refugee camp.

The 300 hectare site in the middle of the city remains mostly untouched despite ongoing threat from development - The people resist and it still serves as an urban park space complete with two runways used by runners, cyclists, kite surfers and everything else! There’s nowhere else like it in the world wide world.

Temple is the culmination of a project exploring old and new techniques of gilding on glass, a mentorship with the lovely Tony Moore and a little residency spent at Templehof - running, walking, cycling the field and eating amazing food with my bros. Thanks to @artscouncilni for the project funding.
