"Fixing a hole where the rain gets in"

The Vault thanks Argyle Business Centre for their recent investment in the Shankill Mission roof and the wider team that took on the work. The Mission building was first built in 1898 and has a top floor that was finished in 1923, making our roof at Vault Shankill Mission over a hundred years young!

After a particularly rough winter in '25/26 there was a need to put some increased protection in to help keep the rain out in years to come. A plan was hatched to partner with Belfast Maker Space run by Sam and Kat Nelson who have done an excellent job repairing their own heritage building, the Nelson Memorial Presbyterian Church, further up the Shankill road.

Sam, Kat and Shadow the dog have been planning and supervising repairs carried out at the Mission by a team of volunteers from the Vault, Belfast Tool Library—also based at the mission and kindly loaning us some tools—plus Rick from Argyle. We are now hopeful for a drier winter indoors and a dance studio without water features that we can continue to hire out to the Belfast community.
